ToggleThe federal government of Pakistan has officially declared public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, providing citizens with a three-day break from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2. The announcement, made by the Cabinet Division, allows people across the country to celebrate the religious festival with family and loved ones following the conclusion of Ramadan.
Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 Expected Date
According to astronomical predictions, Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall on Monday, March 31, 2025. The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has indicated that the Shawwal crescent is likely to be visible on the evening of Sunday, March 30, under clear weather conditions.
Experts explain that for a confirmed moon sighting, the crescent must be at least 18 hours old, and the time gap between sunset and moonset must meet the required threshold. This year, the Shawwal moon will be over 26 hours old by sunset on March 30, making it highly visible.
Official Moon Sighting Announcement
The final decision on the Eid-ul-Fitr date will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which will convene on the evening of March 30 to assess nationwide moon sighting reports. If the crescent is sighted as expected, Pakistanis will begin their Eid celebrations on March 31.
